Repaint steel superstructure of the 360 ft. long, two lane bridge over
CN Railroad tracks.
Project Description:
Remove existing lead-based paint and apply new coating.
Reason project was undertaken:
Existing lead-based paint system was failing and the steel bridge members, and their joints and connections were corroding.

Brush and airless spray
Coating system, number of coats, dry film thickness per coat, etc.:
Termarust 2010 RI Flash Rust Inhibitor, wet coat + .25 mils. Wet coat Termarust 2200 (RAVCS®) Penetrant Sealer in all joints and connections. Single coat, 10 mils DFT of Termarust 2100 (RAVCS®) Primer/Topcoat on all surfaces.
Safety and Environmental Protection Measures:
Full containment for lead and debris
Unusual Job conditions:
Had to stop work for trains.
Platform was ˝ foot below the bridge structure to ensure train clearance.
Evidence of good performance:
More than three years of the warranted 5-year period has passed (for part of the work) with no evidence of further corrosion.
Why Termarust was used.
Termarust and the contractor provided a 5-year warranty on leakage from pack rusted joints and connections and a minimum 25-year coating system service life.
