Preservation of galvanized coating on building.

Project Description:

Cleaning and application of a protective coating to the exterior of a galvanized steel 100 ft long x 48 ft wide x 25 ft high building.

Reason project was undertaken:

The galvanized coating on the steel was failing, with rusting in joints and connections.

Surface Preparation: Methods, degree of cleaning, profile:

2000 PSI Power Wash to remove dirt, dust and oxides. No profile.

Coating application methods, equipment:

Airless spray and man lift.

Coating system, number of coats, dry film thickness per coat, etc.:

Single coat of Termarust 2100 (RAVCS®) Primer/Topcoat at 5 - 6 mils DFT.

Safety and Environmental Protection Measures:

Due to Termarust's chemistry, no special precautions were needed or required.

Unusual Job conditions:

None

Evidence of good performance:

No rusting or deterioration of coating system after one winter.

Why Termarust was used:

Termarust and the contractor provided a 5-year warranty on leakage from pack rusted joints and connections and a minimum 25-year coating system service life.
