Quebec Bridge Reclamation Project

INTRODUCTION

The Quebec Bridge, considered the 'Eighth Wonder of the World' when construction was completed in 1919, is the longest cantilever steel Railway Bridge in the world.

In 1987, the Canadian and American Society of Civil Engineers declared it a Historic Monument and on January 24, 1996, the Department of Canadian Heritage declared the Quebec Bridge a National Historic Site.

The following virtual tour is a chronicle of the fist phase of the ‘Quebec Bridge Reclamation Project” that was initiated in April 1999, and consisted of cleaning and coating half of the South Arm and Portal
